چکیده

This study examines the effects of change in shape landscape patches, known as structure, on ecological susceptibility, which is defined using object-oriented method. The aim to determine whether susceptibility influenced by patches southern basin Caspian Sea. multivariate linear regression approach applied discover extent mean, median, and weighted average structure metrics can explain total variations susceptibility. To optimal models, an intermodel comparison conducted Akaike information criterion. Sensitivity uncertainty analyses were performed how sensitive changes variables models they behave under varying conditions. (0.64≥r2≥0.27, p ≤ 0.05) indicate that be predict Examining estimating also reveals made mean median values have less than those developed average. results show regularity or irregularity degree contiguity land use/land cover significantly affect Closed deciduous broad-leaf forest closed mixed open considered crucial covers estimate

Landscape cultivation alters δ30Si signature in terrestrial ecosystems

Despite increasing recognition of the relevance of biological cycling for Si cycling in ecosystems and for Si export from soils to fluvial systems, effects of human cultivation on the Si cycle are still relatively understudied. Here we examined stable Si isotope (δ(30)Si) signatures in soil water samples across a temperate land use gradient. We show that - independent of geological and climatol...

Ecological Design of Urban Landscape

Paying attention to the spatial placement of the elements (man-made or natural) based on the landscape pattern and ecological processes in urban design would have a considerable impact on both human and the nature. In a way that the discords in the placement of patchs in respect to each other, or in respect to visual corridors and urban matrixes lead to the unwanted results in the cities. The e...

Divergent ecological effects of oceanographic anomalies on terrestrial ecosystems of the Mexican Pacific coast.

Precipitation pulses are essential for the regeneration of drylands and have been shown to be related to oceanographic anomalies. However, whereas some studies report increased precipitation in drylands in northern Mexico during El Niño years, others report increased drought in the southern drylands. To elucidate the effect of oceanographic/atmospheric anomalies on moisture pulses along the who...

Assessment of the Conservation Area Network Development in Markazi Province Using Landscape Metrics

Prioritization and selection of sample areas from the whole nature is necessary to protect biodiversity. The main purpose of this study was to evaluate the development of a network of conservation areas in Markazi province using landscape metrics. For this purpose, we used MaxEnt, Marxan, Fragstat softwares and eight conservation criteria. Results were compared by using simulated sorting, greed...

Landscape Metrics

Understanding the relationship between landscape pattern and ecological processes constitutes the foundation of landscape ecology. Generally, a set of landscape metrics is derived from land cover maps, and subsequently related with a measured ecological response by statistical methods to assess their prediction power. Here, I reviewed several concepts regarding these pattern-process interaction...
